On September 4, at the opening ceremony and theme forum of the Global Green Development and Carbon Neutrality Theme Conference held during the 2022 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), Xie Zhenhua, China's special envoy for climate change, said that green and low-carbon transformation is the only option for green recovery after the global pandemic, and reshaping the international industrial and economic pattern is the general trend.

The Global Green Development and Carbon Neutrality Conference is an important event on the theme of carbon neutrality and green development at CIFTIS 2022, led by the International Green Economy Association, and Xie Zhenhua delivered a video speech.

Xie Zhenhua pointed out that China has always adhered to actively addressing climate change and transformed the realization of climate change goals and tasks into an endogenous driving force for promoting green and low-carbon economic transformation and high-quality development. The various new formats and technologies spawned by green and low-carbon transformation and innovation will usher in huge development opportunities, and in the process of accelerating the transformation of production methods, lifestyles and consumption patterns, huge green markets will be created, thereby releasing strong new momentum for economic growth. According to the predictions of relevant research institutions, the scale of investment in China's carbon neutrality goal process will reach more than 130 trillion yuan, and carbon neutrality action will bring new investment opportunities and broad markets to China. Up to now, in order to implement the Paris Agreement, 136 countries have formulated a long-term low-emission greenhouse gas emission development strategy and vision in the middle of this century in combination with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, and the technological revolution and industrial transformation characterized by green and low-carbon are coming.

"The general trend of global green and low-carbon transformation set by the Paris Agreement is irreversible, the pace of accelerating transformation and innovation will not stop, and the global energy structure, industrial structure and trade structure will undergo profound changes. Xie Zhenhua said.

Xie Zhenhua stressed that new business formats represented by "zero carbon", "low carbon" and "negative carbon" are gradually taking shape, and it has become an international consensus to promote and rely on green technology innovation to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality. China will continue to actively participate in and strive to promote the multilateral process of climate change, and encourage and support local governments, enterprises, think tanks and other sectors of society to carry out multi-level and multi-form exchanges and cooperation.
