On the evening of Oct. 29th, Ambassador Sha Zukang and IGEA held a dinner reception to welcome Mr. Brice Lalonde and the EdEn delegation. Mr. Lalonde is the Chair of EdEn, the former French Minister of Environment and former Assistant Secretary General of the UN. 

Alongside with Mr. Lalonde to be present at the reception were Ms. Patricia Lalonde, Wife of Chairman Brice Lalonde, former Member of the European Parliament, Mr. Gilles Rogers-Boutbien, General Representative and Secretary General of EdEn, Mr. François Moutot, Mayor of Thoiry, France and Elodie Yin, China Business Advisor of EdEn.

Also present at the event are Mr. Liu Jinfeng, Wife of Ambassador Sha Zukang, Former Consul General of the P.R.C. in Busan, Korea, Mr. Deng Jihai, Executive Chairman of IGEA and representatives of some leading enterprises of the IGEA Council. They are Mr. Huang Xiaojun, Vice Chairman of IGEA, Veolia China General Representative, Mr. Ouyang Chaohui, Deputy General Manager of China Rich Energy Corporation Limited CNNC, Mr. Jin Xin, Vice President of Beijing Energy International Group and Ms. Li Jing, Director of Beijing Branch, Tongwei Group.

Ambassador Sha Zukang and Chair Lalonde looked back at the years when they worked together at the UN and shared with the other participants some of the anecdotes when they worked for Rio+20, UN Sustainable Development Summit. Affected by the friendly atmosphere, both teams of IGEA and EdEn had a great time getting together while talking to each other and seeking possible cooperation.

After meeting over the banquet, the two organizations are going to build up a partnership for friendly and sustainable cooperation in the future with a stress on the goal of green energy and carbon neutrality and building a bridge between the Chinese and French experts and business for exchange and cooperation. Both sides can build a collaborative service regime for the international cooperation affairs of facilitating the Chinese energy and environmental enterprises to have overseas business in Europe and for French business to go to China. In the future, they will carry out mutual visit, co-host international summit for addressing climate change and sustainable development, and provide impetus to the international community for the cooperation on energy transition and green low-carbon sustainable development.

Curriculum Vitae of Mr. Brice Lalonde

Brice Lalonde was born in 1946. As a famous French politician who has founded the French Eco-party, he is dedicated to promoting the implementation of sustainability and eco-policy. He is now the Chair of EdEn, or Equilibre des Energies and Chairman of the Business & Climate Summit. He has taken the post of Assistant Secretary General of the UN, the Executive Coordinator of Sustainable Development Conference of the UN, Secretary General of French National Affairs. He has served two terms of the Minster of Environment of France.
